An advanced course in the rhetorical, social, ethical, and political dimensions of professional writing. The course combines theoretical understanding with practical application through a series of position papers and realistic case studies. Through reading, discussion, and extensive writing exercises, students will be challenged to develop skill in analytical thinking, situational and task analysis, audience assessment, political and ethical discernment, and evaluation of rhetorical effects and effectiveness.


RCM 300 or 6 credit units from RCM Non-EN Alternatives.


Students with credit for GE 403 will not receive credit for this course.
