Description

An overview of geochemical controls on the composition of terrestrial waters. This course reinforces thermodynamic principles and examines concepts using chemical equilibrium and Kinetic approaches. Topics include aqueous complexation, mineral equilibria, redox processes, surface reactions, and geochemical modelling

Prerequisite(s): CHEM 115.3 or CHEM 146.3; and MATH 110.3, MATH 133.4, or MATH 176.3; and GEOL 224.3 or GEOL 229.3; or permission of the department.
Note: Students who have completed either GEOL 813 or GEOL 498 (Aqueous Geochemistry) may not take this course for credit.
