An introduction to the study and application of techniques in reading jazz, teaching, improvisation, jazz ensemble rehearsal, and the management of the successful school jazz ensemble program. Other areas of study include: the rhythm section, literature selection, score analysis and preparation, basic jazz theory, and the use of technology in jazz education. Prerequisite(s) MUS 134.
