Description

This course offers introductory (elementary) level Chinese language instruction, and follows CHIN 114.3. This includes: Language Development (greetings, family, dates / times/ money, comparison, directions, celebration and situations); Pronunciations; Basic grammatical points and sentence structures; Reading and Writing (simple sentences from the text); the Evolution of Chinese Characters and Culture component (holidays/festivals, beliefs, family relationships, Chinese mannerisms, foods, and Chinese calligraphy.

Permission of the Department.

Prerequisite(s)

CHIN 114 or equivalent.

Note

Students who are fluent in Chinese may not take this course for credit. Students with credit for CHIN 111 may not take CHIN 117 for credit.
